In a highly competitive knowledge-based industry, NuVista believes in the importance of continuous development for our people. We combine support for external training with an extensive internal learning and development program for all of our employees.
NuVista is committed to making the right learning opportunities available to employees at the right time to achieve our business objectives. Educationally, NuVista focuses on five primary areas in our learning and development programs: leadership coaching; general business training; focused technical training; professional accreditation and affiliations; and education assistance programs for broader programs of study.
In consultation with our employees, NuVista’s leadership and human resources team work together each year to develop a relevant and impactful learning and development plan for each of our employees. At least once per year, all key operational leaders are gathered from Calgary and the field for a two day focused Safety and Environment leadership offsite session. Also once per year, an all-leaders leadership training and engagement session is hosted by the CEO.
Each year, our staff participates in an employee engagement survey which measures their perception of the value of their work, the support they receive from leadership, the importance of team work, the effectiveness of communication, the fairness of their compensation and their perceptions of the executive team. The results of the survey are reviewed by the executive team in order to identify areas for improvement based on employee feedback.
Most importantly, we also simply listen openly to what our staff are telling us and try to use that information to always improve the quality of our workplace and the pride our staff take in their work. We are serious about our Mission, Vision, and particularly our Values which are published on this site. We believe that our strong work hard/play hard culture and our employee engagement is a key factor in our historically low turnover rate and is fundamental to NuVista’s success.
