Environment, Health and Safety
The Board of Directors at NuVista Energy Ltd. meet on a quarterly basis to ensure that all necessary policies, procedures and industry practices that are designed to protect our employees and contractors, as well the members of the public and environment are being adhered to. In an effort to identify opportunities to improve environment, health and safety performance, operations at the field level are regularly assessed.
Environment
We believe in a long term commitment to environmental responsibility and protecting the environmental quality. We strive to minimize our environmental footprint in all areas of operation. This commitment can be demonstrated through:
- Site inspections and assessments to ensure compliance with environmental regulatory legislation
- Evaluation of environmental impacts of new projects
- Effective energy conservation, waste minimization and reduction of emissions
Health & Safety
Health and Safety management is a fundamental value of the board of directors, management and employees. NuVista is committed both to carrying out our operations in a safe and responsible manner. All employees and contractors are required to adhere to NuVista’s safety policies and procedures, industry practices and regulatory requirements. This can be demonstrated on a ongoing basis by:
- Annual safety audits and inspections to ensure regulatory compliance
- Hazard assessments conducted throughout our operations
- Safety management system in place to review our performance on a quarterly basis
- Effective Emergency Response Planning in place which is reviewed and tested on an annual basis
- Effective follow-up investigation on all safety incidents and near misses and communicate the recommendations to field operations staff
- Participation in Safety Stand Down Week by Senior Management with employees and contractors to discuss the importance of safety and other relevant issues
